  • TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Lake Mývatn (the Lake of Midges) is an extraordinary place where geothermal activity meets spring water, creating a unique ecosystem protected under the RAMSAR convention.

The lake is teeming with life, providing sustenance for arctic char, brown trout, and a diverse array of bird species, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts.

The lake’s surroundings are a breathtaking display of geology. The most recent eruption occurred in 1984, and the region’s inhabitants have long adapted to and utilized the geothermal heat just below the surface.
